Organization Tips for Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is an excellent time to freshen up your home and get ready for the warm months ahead. However, no matter how hard you work to clean and scrub every surface, you’ll never feel like you’ve accomplished much if you’re overrun with clutter or simply dealing with a disorganization disaster. The experts here at More Space Place Orlando put together a few tips to help you get organized this spring so you can enjoy a home that is clean and organized.

Organize First – Clean Second

Before you clean the first cobweb, take a few moments and get your cleaning supplies organized. Do you have old products that are no longer effective or simply not something you’d use? Properly dispose of them and get them out of your way. Then, use a bucket or basket to put all the products you’ll need for cleaning in, then you can easily take them from room to room.

Take Advantage of Unused Space

When you are looking for storage, look at the areas you don’t use. Look up, for instance. Perhaps installing a few hooks on the ceiling in the garage could give you space to store bikes without cluttering the floor. Or custom shelving could give you a place to keep gardening equipment. Additionally, check out the space under furniture as a place to stash bins of out-of-season clothing or household decor.

Create a Retreat

Cleaning is exhausting. One of your first steps should be to clean and organize a space you can get away from it all. Perhaps it will be the sitting room you like to go to read or your home office. Whatever it is, finish this space first and get rid of any extra clutter so you have an area to go and relax when you need a break from your other tasks.

Incorporate Organization Into Decor

Consider adding a few trendy baskets to your bedroom closet to give you space to put away bathing suits, belts, and other odds and ends. Or, maybe you’d like to install a pot rack in your kitchen to hang up some of your favorite stainless-steel cookware. Just remember that organization tools don’t have to be clunky and boring. They can actually add a decorative element to the home.

While these tips may help you get organized, we know that sometimes there is a more serious space crunch causing you to struggle.
